Shizuoka Glass Substrate Plants of Corning Carry out Re-production after the Earthquake

[China Glass Network] According to reports from Japanese media, Shizuoka Glass Substrate Plants of Corning was once forced to cease production affected by the earthquake and started to reproduce in October 2011.

 

As reported, the glasses produced by Corning Co. are mainly used to make LCD panels for TV, cell-phones and PC. Corning has sets glass plants both in Shizuoka and Sakai of Japan. Mr. WendellP. Weeks, the chairman and CEO of Corning said that, this reproduction of Shizuoka plants will take expenditure of $22 million in third quarter. He also added that, the demand for glass substrates in market is still very large and this trend will continue to the forth quarter.
