Industry Consultants Launch Website; Offer Tools for Glass Shops

Post Time:Dec 16,2011Classify:Industry NewsView:354

Industry veterans Joel Timmons of Profitable Glass Solutions Ltd. in Dayton, Ohio, and Mike Fox of Las Vegas-based Auto Glass Authority and Trinity Business Advisors have launched a new website designed to provide assistance and tools to small, independent auto glass businesses.

“We have included business acumen designed to assist owners and managers in bringing a more disciplined approach to their business, marketing tools and tactics we have incorporated in our own experiences, connections to suppliers, both new and established, that we have had a high degree of success with … ,” Timmons told glassBYTEs.com™/AGRR™ magazine.

Timmons said he and Fox, who operates Auto Glass Authority in Las Vegas, decided to launch the site in an effort to bring their consulting services (which typically have been provided to larger companies) to smaller businesses.

“Many small glass companies cannot afford to hire Mike or me for the length of time required to successfully implement our ideas so we felt a portal was the best method of making ourselves available in an affordable manner,” says Timmons. “Mike and I are passionate about the success of glass companies that are committed to providing quality work as evidenced by my years of volunteering for [the] AGRSS® Council Inc. Mike is well known by suppliers throughout the industry for the methodology he implements in his own practice.”

Timmons said their goal is “to provide concepts for small, quality glass companies to consider in growing, or perhaps sustaining their business[es].”

“The industry is evolving to a more consumer-directed focus and most glass companies are not set up for this change in business model,” he adds.

In working with independent auto glass shops, the number-one challenge Timmons says he hears of relates to profitability.

“Many glass companies employ a cost-up pricing methodology that does not account for the true cost of running a business,” says Timmons. “It appears a majority of glass companies have been successful in cutting costs but revenue generation is the key to sustainability. There comes a point where you can no longer cut your costs to prosperity.”
