Earlier this morning, employees at the DeWitt, Iowa, float glass facility of the Guardian Industries "pulled the ribbon" and resumed production following

The furnace leak, which occurred while Guardian DeWitt employees were completing routine maintenance, forced a temporary halt to glass production.

"Our employees are trained and prepared to manage issues like this," says Roddy Greig, DeWitt plant manager, in the release. "It is a testament to their teamwork and determination-and a tremendous response from our local firefighters on Monday-that we are able to resume full production in such a short period of time."

Greig says nobody was injured and that customers were unaffected by the leak. "It's been a busy week for us, but it's back to business as usual," he says in the release.

The DeWitt plant, which opened in 1996, manufactures float glass and fabricates special types of glass including coated glass, tempered and mirrors.
