The storms that raged through the Midwest and South over the weekend didn't seem to touch many glass companies.

According to the National Weather Service, 42 tornadoes hit 10 states, stretching from Alabama to Ohio, Friday into Saturday, killing at least 39 people.

"I am not aware of any of our customers affected from the storms," says Jeff Leone, CEO of Trulite Glass & Aluminum Solutions, headquartered in Deerfield Beach, Fla. "No Trulite locations were affected."

Cardinal Glass Industries of Eden Prairie, Minn., has 29 plants across the country. "The storms didn't affect any of our customers or operations," says Bowie Neumayer, vice president of sales and marketing.

"I haven't heard back from everyone, but have heard back from the people closest to customers in the Midwest," says Rob Struble, business communications manager at PPG Industries Inc. of Pittsburgh. "We are aware of none affected."

Wolf Glass in New Albany, Ind., reports no effects from the storms. "Right afterwards there was a thunderstorm with hale, so we've had auto glass damages come in," says Teresa Schickel, salesperson. "To my knowledge there were no glass companies that were in the areas [that the tornados hit]."

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope's Indianapolis office "got a little bit of hale and rain Friday when Henryville [Ind.] got wiped out," says Roxanne Gonzales, receptionist. "Henryville and Louisville [Ky.] got hit pretty hard."

A.G. Glass & Mirror in Louisville was "not affected at all," the receptionist reported.

Ken von Roenn, president of Architectural Glass Art Inc. in Louisville, says, "We were not affected at all in downtown Louisville. The tornado hit 10-15 miles north of us."

A representative at Coral Industries Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Ala., also reported no effects from the storm.
