Only Product to Win Readers Choice Awards in Two Categories

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2008--Energy-efficient Heat Mirror(R) insulating glass from Southwall Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:SWTX), providing insulating values ranging from R-6 to R-20, won two coveted 2007 Product-of-the-Year awards in the categories of Glass & Glazing and Sustainable Design as voted by the readers of ARCHI-TECH magazine. ARCHI-TECH is read by more than 28,000 architects, systems integrators, and technology consultants who are responsible for specifying technology into commercial structures.

"Southwall is honored that Heat Mirror has received recognition from ARCHI-TECH's knowledgeable readership as leading the way in providing insulating performance superior to generic low-e glass," said Bruce Lang, Southwall's Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. "Heat Mirror insulating glass performance begins where low-e ends and addresses the world's urgent need to save energy, reduce greenhouse gases and increase the efficiency of the building envelope."

Superior to any low-e insulating glass currently available, Heat Mirror insulating glass contains from one to three lightweight, technologically advanced low emissivity and solar reflective films mounted inside of an insulating glass unit to create multiple insulating cavities. These cavities, when filled with heat-blocking gasses such as Argon or Krypton, save more energy and reduce more CO2 emissions than low-e insulating glass alone and provide a broad range of energy conservation performance to meet the requirements of today's commercial and residential green building projects.

Southwall Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:SWTX) introduced the world's first low-e coated glass product in 1981, a pioneering technology recognized in 2000 by Popular Science magazine as one of the "Top 100 Inventions of the Millennium." Southwall's Heat Mirror insulating glass units are available from over 50 window and insulating glass manufacturers worldwide.
