The issue of the extraction and storage of renewable energies is of interest to scientists and politicians worldwide. For this reason, Messe Düsseldorf has begun to export the successful Energy Storage Düsseldorf concept and to adapt and further develop it with competent partners. The next event of this nascent product family is being held in China: At the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair from 8th to 11th May 2013, Energy Storage / Messe Düsseldorf will be offering an open platform to provide an up-to-date overview of the developments in the energy industry in the Middle Kingdom, to discuss practical solutions to energy storage, and to examine marketable applications and new concepts with experts from politics, science and industry.China´s electricity network will soon be the largest in the world - not only in terms of the capacity of energy generation installations, but also of the actual amount of energy produced. China also has the world´s largest wind farms and the biggest capacities for producing photovoltaic modules. Nowhere else in the world is such a large sum of money being invested in renewable energies. This makes China very attractive as a market for energy storage technologies as so far this huge country has only four per cent of the total worldwide storage capacity. The immediate issue of concern for the Energy Storage China Preview is the special challenges faced by the most populous country on earth, with a surface area of 9.6 million square kilometres and extremely varied geographical and climatic conditions. Messe Düsseldorf and its partner Solarpraxis AG have previously organised successful events about energy storage; most recently, the two-day conference "Energy Storage - International Summit for the Storage of Renewable Energies" held in Düsseldorf in March 2013. With more than 530 participants from 33 countries, this event is one of the most important in the industry. The conference took place alongside a trade fair which attracted 45 industrial firms, associations and research institutions. The Energy Storage North America ^- Conference and Expo (ESNA) will take place for the first time in San Jose, California from 10th to 12th September 2013; the Energy Storage India (ESI) will take place in Mumbai, India from 4th to 6th December 2013.Hans Werner Reinhard, deputy CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH is pleased about the new additions to the product family of Energy Storage events: "For Messe Düsseldorf and its partners, this represents an excellent opportunity to present the topic of the storage of renewable energies at the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair organised by the Chinese state. We see the preview in May as a further step of China along the path towards driving practical and economically important storage solutions for renewable energies. In 2014, an independent conference will take place entitled Energy Storage China. We also want to bring together in China experts from different interest groups so that storage technologies can be viewed in the overall context of the developments of the energy industry. From the clear understanding that network and storage technologies are key solutions for a clean, economical, reliable and safe supply of electricity all around the world." 19.04.2013, Messe Düsseldorf GmbH
