As many as 75 people will be laid off at the NSG Group float glass plant in Laurinburg, N.C., following its decision to idle one of two lines, according to a July 11 report from The Laurinburg Exchange. The idling process is expected to be complete in August and September, according to NSG officials.
Roberta Steedman, a spokesperson for the NSG Group, told the Laurinburg Exchange that the layoffs are temporary and that “approximately 70-75 people” would be affected.
In a July 6 release, NSG officials said the company anticipatedproduction would recommence on the idled Laurinburg line "when market conditions permit."
