TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Global glass demand will likely rise 25%-30% in 2008, driven mainly by increasing sales of flat-panel televisions, the president of Corning Display Technologies Taiwan Co., Alan Eusden, said in a prepared speech Wednesday.

He said television sales in the U.S. will likely rise to 29 million this year from 23 million last year.

Eusden will deliver the speech later Wednesday at the Display Taiwan 2008 Business & Technology Forum in Taipei.

Corning Display Technologies Taiwan is a unit of Corning Inc. (GLW) of the U.S., which has more than 50% of the market in liquid crystal display screens used in digital TV sets and computer monitors, according to industry research agency Display Search.
