A Finalist for Glass Facility

Gov. Bill Ritter on Monday told the Rocky Mountain News that Colorado is among the finalists for Spanish energy company Abengoa Solar´s proposed glass manufacturing facility for solar panels. Abengoa, based in Seville, Spain, has set up its U.S. headquarters in Lakewood. In February, Abengoa announced it will build, own and operate the world´s largest solar plant in Arizona.The 280-megawatt plant, scheduled to go online by 2011, is 70 miles southwest of Phoenix. It will sell the electricity produced to Arizona Public Service Co. throughout 30 years for a total revenue of around $4 billion, bringing more than $1 billion in economic benefits to the state.
