International Glass Event Fires into Sunderland

Post Time:May 14,2012Classify:Industry NewsView:63

An architectural glass event attracting guest speakers from across the world takes place at the National Glass Centre this month.

This is the second time the centre has hosted the International Symposium in Architectural Glass, which includes traditional lectures with panel discussions, workshops demonstrations and informal networking opportunities.

The Symposium - 'Working with light as a means of interaction between space and mind' - will run for two days (May 17/May 18).

It has been organised with the help of the National Glass Centre-based Institute for International Research in Glass (IIRG), co-ordinated by Professor Sylva Petrova, of the University of Sunderland.

The emphasis of this event is how flat glass is used three dimensionally in space and as a creative means of expression. This will explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of this process: idea exploration, design development, use of new technologies, the possibilities of technical restrictions and the multi-disciplinary approach prevalent in many projects.

Guest speakers will include:

Marian Karel
Dana Zamecnikova
Judith Schaechter
Algirdas Dovydenas
Daan Roosegaarde
Rodney Bender
Tim Macfarlane
Alexander Beleschenko
