NASHVILLE, Tenn. - One West Nashville property shines like a field of diamonds, and the best place to see it is from Sky 5.

Phil Jones was high above the Ford glass plant on Centennial Boulevard.

The massive plant and its workforce have cranked out car windshields and automotive glass since 1957. Along with the glass comes cullet.

Cullet is the name of the large piles of crushed up glass that is a by product of glass making. The piles shine like diamonds when the sun hits the pieces just right.

Cullet is formed from excess scraps of glass during the cutting process, or imperfect glass that can't be used. The green granules are mixed with sand and soda ash and eventually re-melted and re-used.
