Six projects with a total capacity of 12 megawatts (MW) capacity have been allocated by the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) to private developers to generate power from solar energy.
Two of these six projects with installed capacity of 1 MW each will not require any land as these will be installed on rooftops of existing industries, a HAREDA spokesman said here on Sunday.
The other projects are also being executed by private industries. The projects would be set up by these industries before December 2009, with a total investment of nearly Rs.2.4 bn.
Haryana has clear 320 sunny days every year, surveys in recent years have shown.
The power produced from these projects would be fed to the state grid for which the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission had already issued the tariff order for purchase of power from the solar projects.
The ministry of new and renewable energy will subsidize Rs.12 per unit in the Rs.15.96 per unit cost of power generated from these projects.
The spokesman added that five more companies with a capacity of 25 MW had been short-listed for more solar power generation projects.
