MHC Reports Construction Starts Up 13 Percent

McGraw Hill Construction reported a 13 percent increase in new construction starts at a seasonally adjusted rate from August to September, according to the Oct. 16 edition of the Associated General Contractors of America Data DIGest. After losing ground in August, nonresidential building bounced back, up 9 percent from this time last year, and total construction starts are up 2 percent over the first nine months of 2013 from the same period in 2012, according to MHC. MHC also reported that the Dodge Momentum Index advanced 2.9 percent in September—its highest level since Q1 2009—continuing its upward trend of the past three months, and rising 31 percent since the end of 2012.
