An employee of Insulpane of Connecticut and Orchard Glass Distributors in Hamden, Conn., was killed after 10 to 12 large glass lites fell from a storage rack, landing on the worker, according to a March 24 article from NBCConnecticut.com. The 50-year-old man was working in a storage area with his brother late on March 22 when the incident occurred, according to the article.
Officials from parent company Consolidated Glass Holdings Inc., issued the following statement to Glass Magazine.
It is with great sadness that Insulpane of Connecticut confirms a fatal industrial accident occurred on Friday evening, March 22, 2013, at their Hamden facility. Our primary concern is with the family of our team member and out of respect for the family’s privacy, we are not releasing the team member’s name at this time. We are providing on-site counseling to help team members deal with this unfortunate event.The company is conducting an investigation of the incident and is also cooperating with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and local authorities. Insulpane of Connecticut has over 30 years of operating experience in the architectural glass fabrication industry, and is a subsidiary company of Consolidated Glass Holdings, Inc., headquartered in Denver, Colo.
