Construction spending reached a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $807 billion in November, up 1.2 percent from October and up 0.5 percent from November 2010, according to the Jan. 5 edition of Data DIGest from the Associated General Contractors of America. The spending total marks a 17-month high, according to the release.
Construction employment increased in 131 metro areas in November, compared to November 2010, according to Data DIGest. Employment was unchanged in 60 metro areas and decreased in 146.
