CMA update at IGMA meeting

Post Time:Mar 25,2011Classify:Industry NewsView:134

John Lewis, director, New Business Program, National Fenestration Rating Council, Greenbelt, Md., provided an update on NFRC activities, including the Component Modeling Approach commercial fenestration rating program, during a joint meeting of the Glass Association of North America Insulating Division and Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance Technical Services Committee. The meeting was held as part of IGMA's Annual Meeting and GANA's Glass Week.

The CMA, which went into effect last year, has experienced "quite a bit of growth," Lewis said. Ninety-two people have passed requirements to become Approved Calculation Entities, and the program has eight ACE organizations. "We have issued a modest number of label certifications, and we [expect to] see that growing quite dramatically," he said. In terms of supplier involvement, three spacer manufacturers, and eight frame manufacturers, have their products available within the CMA, he said.

Additionally, NFRC released version 1.2 of the CMA software, CMAST, in January, he said.
