Pilkington NA to offer online CE course on glass and energy

Pilkington North America, Toledo, Ohio,is introducing afree, online continuing education course on glass and energy, according to a March 22 release. The course introduces the benefits of incorporating float glass in a variety of architectural applications, in addition to explaining how float glass is made and how to select from the different types of architectural glass to meet design and energy savings needs.

This course is designed to help architects specify the right product, understand the balance between appearance and performance, and feel confident the product has been properly selected, according to the release.This course will earn oneCE state credit in the American Institute of Architects' Glass and Energy category.

According to the release, at the end of the program, participants will be able to:

Identify key terminology and concepts related to glass; light, heat, UV and thermal stress;Describe the float glass manufacturing process and the components used to produce glass;Balance aesthetics and performance when selecting architectural glass;Understand the characteristics of heat treated, laminated, insulated, and spandrel glass;Identify the differences between clear, tinted, and coated glass (e.g. Reflective, Low-E);Describe specialty products, including profiled, anti-reflective, patterned, fire-resistant, and self-cleaning glass.
