An environmentalist who won the special election last year for the House seat vacated by White House chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is bringing an initiative he successfully pushed in Illinois to make public buildings "bird-safe."

Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) has introduced legislation that would require the General Services Administration to use bird-safe materials and designs when constructing, renovating or acquiring federal buildings to "the maximum extent feasible," according to a March 16 AllHeadline News report.
