Van Huët Glass Logistics, Tiel, Netherlands, member of the Emons Group, Milsbeek, Netherlands, has taken over the glass activities of the Austrian company Interliner retroactively as of Jan. 1,2010, according to a Feb. 3 release. Interliner got into financial problems in the course of last year, finally leading into bankruptcy.

With this take-over, Van Huët increases its market share in the specialty market of jumbo size glass transportation per inloader.

“The glass industry has been going through a process of consolidation in the last years," said Bert Strikkers, managing director, Van Huët, in the release. "This trend is also being followed in the transport industry. The consequences of the economic crisis only accelerate this process.”

Due to this take-over, the capacity of the Van Huët fleet increases to 300 inloaders, thus reinforcing the number 2 position in this niche market in Europe, according to the release.
