Vistamatic, Miami, an international designer and manufacturer of observation window systems, has partnered with Western Maryland Health System to supply vision panels for its new, and eagerly anticipated, $225 million Regional Medical Center due to open in November, according to an Oct. 1 release.

This state-of-the-art regional medical center is a seven-story, 600,000-square-foot, 275-bed hospital with diagnostic and treatment departments on the lower three floors and inpatient towers on the upper three floors. Between these are the mechanical floors.

“Vistamatic’s windows are significantly thinner and fits better," saidHord Coplan lead architect, Chun-Fa Tan, in the release. "Additionally, the panels clean viewing lines provide the desirable appearance required without compromising the functional needs of the health care facilities.”

Vistamatic vision panels consist of three sheets of glass set within an insulated unit, which are operated using Vistamatic’s propriety lever mechanism. When the lever is turned, the inner sheet of glass rise to enable observation and, by turning the handle back, vision is obscured. The new Vistamatic Max corner unit allows for the observation of two patients at a time. This unique product has been designed with larger spacing between each band to offer greater viewing capacity and enhanced sight lines for environments where style, privacy, security and private observation are required. Alls panels are fire rated with UL10B and C 45- and 20-minute rating, according to the release.
