Zeledyne LLC purchased a state-of-the-art cutting system for its Tulsa plant, according to a June 10 release. Installation of the system is underway, with completion expected by early August.

“This $4 million investment at our Tulsa plant represents a significant commitment to this plant and our manufacturing capability in general,” said Michael McCarney, CEO, in the release. “This system will provide greater flexibility and responsiveness to our customers’ needs, while enhancing efficiency within the plant.”

With this system, Zeledyne will provide reduced response times for custom-ordered glass. The cutting system, designed and installed by Hegla, can process up to 40 million square feet per year.

“This installation gives us greater capability, just as we are starting to see some stabilization in the architectural glass market,” McCarney added, in the release. “This positions Zeledyne well for the anticipated recovery in this segment later this year.”

This investment is the second major investment at Zeledyne’s Tulsa plant in less than two years. The plant’s T-2 glass float line resumed production last May, after an extensive, $30 million rebuild.

Zeledyne LLC manufactures and distributes automotive and architectural glass to customers around the world. It has 1,300 employees at its three plants in Nashville, Tulsa, Okla., and Juarez, Mexico, and its headquarters in Allen Park, Mich.
