‘Edgetech University’ back in session at GlassBuild 2009

Edgetech I.G., Cambridge, Ohio,will bring back its popular booth theme, Edgetech University, for a second semester at GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Doorexpo, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, in Atlanta, according to a May 19 release. Located at booth #2219, ETU will focus on educating customers about upcoming Green Certification Programs, Energy Star changes, IG certification and best practices for meeting the stimulus bill’s .30/.30 requirements.

Edgetech also will sponsor the GlassBuild America Energy Efficiency Seminar Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. This panel style discussion will bring together industry experts to examine trends affecting the industry, including existing rules, changes and future growth opportunities.

Edgetech University’s classroom-style, in-booth “quads” will include Marg Webb, executive director for the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance, Ottawa, Ontario, who will address the topic of IG certification; Michael Thoman, director of thermal testing and simulation from Architectural Testing, York, Penn., and the National Fenestration Ratings Council, Greenbelt, Md.; and Rich Walker, president and CEO of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, Schaumburg, Ill.Additionally, a few courses will be presented directly by Edgetech’s experts, including hands-on Super Spacer application, best practices for manufacturing triple-glazed IG and–back by popular demand–MythBusters structural simulations. The company will feature its high-performance products and value-added services offered through the Edgetech 360 Value Promise, as well as the SustainaView Window Technology campaign.

“With so much happening in the industry right now, it’s all about being educated and seizing opportunities whenever possible,” said Erin Johnson, director of marketing for Edgetech I.G., in the release“Over the past few years, we have focused heavily on educating the industry about energy efficiency and sustainability with numerous learning opportunities, including the well-attended ‘Energy in Focus’ seminar in the U.K. ETU and the Energy Efficiency Seminar will further these efforts, featuring several third-party industry experts who will answer questions and help attendees stay on the leading edge.”

According to Johnson, the company’s focus on energy efficiency and sustainability have been tremendously successful globally as manufacturers and law makers are seeking ways to drastically reduce heat loss through residential and commercial window systems. “In the past 18 months alone we have sold and/or installed more than 40 automated Super Spacer lines worldwide to help customers meet and exceed new guidelines for energy efficiency,” she said in the release.
