U.K. government boosts funding for solar PV

Post Time:Jan 19,2009Classify:Industry NewsView:182

Solarcentury [U.K.] has welcomed news that the Department for Energy [U.K.] is boosting funding for solar PV under the Low Carbon Buildings Programme by GBP7 million.

This decision follows the release of the government's zero carbon homes consultation last week, which confirmed that a combination of solar PV and energy efficiency measures is the cheapest way to build low carbon homes at the lower levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Under the terms of the Phase 2 tender, the department committed to moving funds from underperforming to over performing technologies as the program developed, so the announcement is entirely consistent with that promise.
