Revenues dive at window and door maker

PGT Inc., North Venice, Fla., the hurricane-resistant window and door maker, lost $1.63 million in the third quarter on revenues that dropped nearly 25 percent and hinted at more job cuts if the economy weakens further.

The loss at Sarasota County's largest manufacturer equated to 5 cents per share and compared with a profit of $1.07 million, or 4 cents per share, during the same quarter a year ago.

Third-quarter revenues fell to $54.3 million from $72 million a year ago.

PGT lost $80 million, or $2.74 per share, in the first nine months of its fiscal year, with revenues dropping 24.6 percent, from $224.1 million to $169.3 million, according to an Oct. 30 HeraldTribune.com report.
