Ford glass business sold to Zeledyne

Zeledyne, a newly formed, privately-held company led by Tulsa investor Robert Price, finalized the purchase of Ford Motor Co.’s glass business April 14. The sale includes glass plants in Nashville and Tulsa, in addition to subsidiary Vidriocar in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Also included are the leases for a warehouse in Lebanon, Tenn., and engineering offices in Allen Park, Mich. “Zeledyne has a tremendous opportunity for growth,” said Price, Zeledyne chairman, in an April 15 release. “We plan to expand all three areas of the business: automotive glass as original equipment for vehicles; Carlite, the automotive aftermarket glass; and Versalux, the high quality architectural glass.”Price announced the appointment of Michael J. McCarney as the new CEO for Zeledyne. He has 30 years of experience at Ford, as president of Ford South East Asia and director of manufacturing operations, North American Truck.
