The first Glass Performance Days India will be held Dec. 3-4 in conjunction with the Zak Glasstech 2008, Dec. 4-7. Both events will be in New Delhi. “We expect to provide a platform for open exchange of information against the background of presentations provided by top international experts in the field,” said Brown Onduso, coordinator of GPD India, in a release. “At the same time we connect with the Indian market for the promotion of cooperation between architects, designers, research institutes, universities and industry.” The Indian glazing industry welcomed GPD with open arms. “The concept of combining the GPD event with Glasstech India 2008 is a very good idea, particularly in view of offering experts attending the exhibition the opportunity for a uniquely focused workshop at the same time,” says Sharanjit Singh, managing director of GSC Toughened Glass Pvt. Ltd., Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. “We especially welcome a practical case study type of conference targeted at architects, designers and the building community.” The special focus on glass performance is well suited to the Indian user categories, says Arun Sharma, managing director, Trosifol India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, a producer of polyvinyl butyral films for glass lamination from Germany. “Applications and performance in the areas of solar control, energy efficiency and environmental advantage are very current topics for Indian builders working in a booming economy,” he said. “Building designers also have a special interest in greener and better daylighted buildings. The same applies to the important group of energy auditors, who are tasked with the responsibility of monitoring and advising on the energy efficiency of buildings.
