Crown Prince cuts the ribbon at the plant’s dedication
Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, (October 27, 2008) –Guardian Industries held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at its float glass plant in Ras Al Khaimah. His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, cut the ribbon at the plant’s official dedication ceremony. Guardian RAK, which began full production in September 2007, increases the company’s ability to meet the burgeoning glass needs of the UAE and beyond.
Guardian RAK produces 700 tons of glass per day, used in construction and automotive applications. The facility employs nearly 300 people and has generated approximately 1,000 additional jobs in related supplier and logistics industries.
“We continue to develop a strong customer base in the Gulf region and are pleased to expand capacity along with our partners,” said Russ Ebeid, president of Guardian’s glass group. “With our plants in RAK, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, we are producing a combined capacity of nearly 2,000 tons per day, assuring a seamless supply of glass for this growing region.”
The plant will soon produce high-performance coated glass products, including SunGuard®, Guardian’s line of advanced architectural glass, following installation of a high-tech coating machine.
Mr. Ebeid also praised the efforts of the Crown Prince for his leadership and vision in creating an environment conducive to global business.
