Frederico Broccoli, president and chief executive officer of Biesse America, announced the company acquired the distribution and service branch of AGM Glass Machinery Inc. during a news conference March 22 at Biesse headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. AGM, also in Charlotte, has been the U.S. distributor for Intermac glass and stone-working machinery for 20 years. The new company will be named Intermac AGM and begin operation April 2. Broccoli will serve as its president and CEO. Broccoli also announced that Biesse acquired 60 percent of Brenna Machine of Italy. Bre.Ma. designs and manufactures numerical controlled machinery that bores, mills, routs and inserts. “You can grow organically by increasing your natural business divisions,” Broccoli said, “or you can accelerate your growth by acquisitions.” The company plans an $8 building expansion in Charlotte, Broccoli said. “Our goal is to be in the new building in 30 months,” he said. Biesse offers modular solutions that range in design of turnkey systems for large furniture manufacturers to individual automatic machines and workstations for small and medium-sized companies. It also designs and sells individual high-tech components.
