GlassBuild America set to break records in Vegas

GlassBuild America, the Glass, Window & Door Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Sept. 19-21, will buzz with energy as attendees and exhibitors from across the world gather to teach, learn and show their wares in the architectural glass and residential fenestration industries. The show will host 495 exhibiting companies, compared to 453 last year, and 392 at the last West Coast show in 2004 in San Diego. More than 31 educational seminars and demonstrations are scheduled. "Las Vegas 2006 is going to go in the record books for GlassBuild America," says Denise Sheehan, vice president for industry events for the National Glass Association of McLean, Va. "Our pre-registration number is already more than 8,000 and we have a record-setting number of 495 exhibiting companies who will be with us this year. Specials in this year’s GlassBuild America include:

The Crystal Hall of Fame. Glass magazine will present its first Crystal Achievement Award for commercial applications at the show, and Window & Door magazine will present its eighth annual awards. Stories about the projects, products and services honored will be featured on posters in the pavilion for all to see. The Architectural Glazing Committee of the National Glass Association will host the first annual Glazing Executives Forum featuring interactive discussions, peer-to-peer sharing among suppliers and contract glaziers, and updates on challenging topics affecting the industry. Patrick MacLeamy, chief operating officer of Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, San Francisco, will be the keynote speaker on Sept. 18. See an interview with MacLeamy on p. 170 of the August issue of Glass magazine. More than 20 seminars and workshops. In addition, the American Architectural Manufacturers Association of Schaumberg, Ill., and the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance of Ottawa, Ontario, will host seminars Sept. 18-19, the Bath Enclosure Manufacturers Association of Topeka, Kan., will meet Sept. 19-20, and the Glass Association of North America of Topeka, Kan., will hold its fall conference nearby at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino on Sept. 20-22.Share this article:
