Hager Sondermaschinenbau is a globally operating family company that designs and builds ultra-modern material flow and automation systems for the sheet glass industry. For the past 10 years, the company has been producing top-quality stacking systems for floating glass systems. A current example for the delivery of high-capacity stacking robots to the sheet glass industry is the implementation of two projects for the Brazilian sheet glass producer of a joint venture company near Sao Paulo. Commissioning is planned for Spring 2013.The two projects use stacking technology of the latest generation, i.e. the "Rapid Line". The joint venture company will use them in a coating plant as well as a mirror-production plant. These "Rapid Line" stacking robots are particularly flexible, fast and accurate. They were launched in 2012 and instantly acquired a high level of acceptance among well-known users, with six of these systems already delivered. The high flexibility of this innovative system concept is proven by the fact that it can be used for a wide variety of applications, for example for coating and mirror production by the joint venture company´ it is equally suited for jumbo formats as well as for sub-sections in a random sequence, a sheet can be taken up from any orientation/position, the sheet transport is interpolating, i.e. rotation around several spatial axes can be performed at the same time. The high maximum speed of the stacking robot is the result of major engineering achievements by Hager Sondermaschinenbau, which have provided the company with a considerable edge ininnovation in this industry sector. The system is based on an extremely torsion-resistant machine construction and light-weight design of the moving components. These reduced weights can be moved jerk-free at high accelerations. The cycle time from sheet uptake to sheet uptake can be less than 20 seconds and is synchronised with the cycle times of the production machines. The systems at the joint venture company near Sao Paulo will work with maximum production output. The advantages of Rapid Lines include their reliable operation. Hardly any maintenance effort is required, even when production systems run for extended times (e.g. floating glass). This is supplemented by high user-friendliness (HMI), which played an important role in the development of the systems concept. 17.12.2012, Hager Sondermaschinenbau
