Greenberg Glass Emergency collapses into administration

Post Time:Nov 10,2008Classify:Company NewsView:388

Greenberg Glass Emergency has collapsed into administration just days after its sister company, Greenberg Glass Contracts, suffered the same fate.

Both companies are part of the Liverpool-based Greenberg Group which has operated glass businesses in the city since 1936.

However, most of the 300 people employed by Greenberg Glass Emergency are now based in Huddersfield.

The division provides emergency replacement glass to many of the most famous names in British retailing and controls around 70% of the national market.

Manchester administrators MCR have been appointed to find a buyer for the business.

They are already trying to find a buyer for Greenberg Glass Contracts, based in Wellington Business Park in north Liverpool, which collapsed last week.

Within days of taking over, MCR were forced to make 70 people out of the 170-strong workforce redundant but said they were still hoping to sell it as a going concern.

It supplies internal glazing to major commercial and retail developments around the UK.
