The downstream industries of soda ash, such as glass and papermaking, continue their low demand with below 30% of total operating rate, which leads to the fierce contradiction of supply over demand for soda ash in East China.
Most of companies in this region temporarily stop quoting. The main market price of light alkali is around 1,200 yuan/ton, and the price of heavy alkali is about 1,350-1,450 yuan/ton.
The price of soda ash currently is below cost. After price reduction, it is even harder to make shipments. Therefore, most of companies reduce production to balance supply and demand and look forward a better market.
