Shandong sets strict limits on flat glass projects

As a main province for glass, Shandong will set strict limits on flat glass projects, focusing on the technical reform and industry upgrading of the existing production lines and encouraging the development of special float glass.

Shandong will also actively develop hollow glass, vacuum glass, tempered glass and PV glass, and center on the development of low-energy-consumption, high-efficiency, high-precision and highly automated glass machines to increase the localization rate and meet the expanding demands.

According to the planning, Shandong will keep the total output of flat glass under 70 million weight cases till 2012 and float all the glass lines. Then, float glass will occupy more than 40% of the total output of flat glass, and the rate of glass processing will reach to above 40%. Shandong will promote 10 large glass-manufacturing groups of more than 1 billion yuan sales revenue and one state-grade technology center.
