Medina Glass Block has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from creditors.

The 28-year-old company is the largest commercial, industrial, and residential installer of glass block in the country. Chuck Boesch, its assistant vice president, said in a statement that Medina Glass Block intends to restructure the company and continue operating “with renewed strength and commitment to our business.”

“The filing was made so that we can continue to serve our customers,” he said.

The voluntary filing was made Tuesday, Nov. 25, in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Akron.

By entering bankruptcy, the company will be able to restructure its business and its debt. Mr. Boesch said the privately held company is evaluating its retail business and strengthening its commercial and wholesale businesses.

The company has about 100 employees.
