Taiwan's AU to delay launch of 7.5-generation LCD line

AU Optronics Corp (2409.TW), Taiwan's biggest LCD maker, will delay the launch of a new 7.5-generation production line, the Commercial Times reported, without citing sources.

The report said machinery installation is due to be completed by the end of the year, but the plant will remain idle.

Output of a 7.5-generation LCD plant is equivalent to that of three 5th-generation lines, the newspaper said.

AU's delayed launch is estimated to result in an annual reduction of nearly 5 mln LCD panels for 42-inch television sets, it added.
