Samsung Electronics has maintained its lead in the global market of liquid crystal display monitors for five consecutive quarters. According to market research firm IDC on Sunday, Samsung led with a global share of 16 percent in sales of LCD monitors in the third quarter this year.
Samsung sold 6.29 million LCD units in the third quarter, breaking the quarterly record of 6.28 million units established last year. A Samsung official said, "It is attributable to diverse new product lines, including those launched to mark the 20th anniversary of 'Think Master,' our own monitor brand."
Dell came second with a 14 percent share, followed by Hewlett-Packard (12 percent) and LG Electronics (10 percent). In terms of sales figures, Samsung ranked first with a 17 percent share, followed by Dell, HP and LG Electronics with 14 percent, 13 percent and 10 percent, respectively.
