ASABA—A MEMBER representing Ughelli North II constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Abel Oshevire, has said negotiations have reached advanced stage towards the reactivation of the Bendel Glass Factory Ughelli, which will provide an opportunity of employing over 2000 workers.

Oshevire, who stated this during a recent constituency briefing and empowerment programme of his constituency, also assured that the annual flooding that characterizes parts of Ughelli metropolis would not be witnessed this year.

His words: “The Bendel Glass factory should hopefully roar back to life within the next few months. Discussions have reached high levels with two Chinese companies to take over the factory.

“Apart from the employment opportunities of 2000 skilled and unskilled workers which the factory has the capacity to generate, its economic impact on both the state and the constituency is enormous.

“This was what informed my making the reactivation of the factory a cardinal issue of my campaign.

“It will be a great thing of joy if this factory which had been abandoned since December 1981 roars back to life.”
