AGC in Moustier shuts down and rebuilds a float furnace

Post Time:Feb 09,2009Classify:Company NewsView:366

One of the 4 float glass furnaces at AGC Flat Glass Europe in Moustier (Belgium) has been shut down after 18 years of uninterrupted production. The furnace will be rebuilt incorporating new technologies focused on energy efficiency and environmental performance. The plant is taking the opportunity of this decreased activity to set up a special training programme for its employees mainly oriented towards the development of technical skills including increased safety.

The service to customers is guaranteed by the production capacities of the group’s other float glass production lines elsewhere in Europe.

The temporary shutdown of this furnace was planned as part of the furnace rebuilding programme, and will also contribute to reducing glass capacity in Europe during the period of economic downturn.
