A 3.7-billion-yuan glass project launches its first float glass

On February 10, Fujian Qibin Glass project, with 3.7 billion yuan of total investment, succeeded in producing its first float glass.

Zhangzhou Qibin Glass project, a key project of Fujian Province, has put its first production line into production on December 28, 2008. Adopting the high-quality silica sand from Dongshan Island, the company produces high quality float glass, which can be widely used in buildings, furniture, vehicles and optical instruments.

The project will build 4 support project with 1.5 billion yuan this year: 2 most advanced Low-E online coated glass lines in the world with daily melting amount at 600 tons, a 5000-ton berth, a fuel oil modification project, research center, sales center, training center and so on.

After the project reaches its designed capacity, the annual value of gross output will reach 10 billion yuan, which is twice as much as the current output value of Dongshan County.
