The ift Special Show "Euro-Vision Windows and Doors" staged during the BAU 2009 exhibition in Munich reflects the extensive international interest of industry visitors in building solutions that show the way to the future. Using examples of completed building projects, companies with Europe-wide interests had the opportunity of gaining an overview of technologies and requirements for window and doors in Europe.

Each market has its special requirements – and these were demonstrated at the well-attended Special Show "Euro-Vision Windows and Doors", which had been organised jointly by the ift Rosenheim and Messe München GmbH. Here, manufacturers, installers, architects/designers and planners, engineers and investors were able to obtain information about the advantages of intelligent technology, about innovative building components as well as the different national requirements. The broad variety of functional and constructive exhibits reflected the very diverse range of requirements: from thermal insulation in Scandinavia, solar shading in Southern Europe through to storm-proof windows in hurricane areas. An ift product data sheet was available to show the characteristic technical data for each exhibit in a clear and comparable way. This allowed visitors to compare German requirements with those of other important European markets.

The daily guided tours by ift experts through the Special Show were very popular. Just like throughout the exhibition as a whole, which was able to attract a new record number of visitors in 2009, this Special Show did not reflect any crisis mood in view of recent poor business forecasts. Ulrich Sieberath, the Director of the ift Rosenheim, was very happy with this year´s turnout: "The interest shown by visitors is an indication for us that we are on the right path."

Many visitors also accepted the invitation to join the ift Architects´ Forum. This demonstrated, in a concise and clear way, the right method for designing and specifying windows, facades and glazing for energy-efficient solutions in existing and new buildings. The talks covered the practical implications of requirements, properties, CE marking and quality characteristics. In this context, the current publication of ´Comments on DIN EN 14351-1, Windows and Doors´, published by Ulrich Sieberath and Prof. Christian Niemöller, was also introduced. It provides technical and legal experts with support in the practical use and correct interpretation of the product standard DIN EN 14351-1.
