Ughelli glass factory imminent

Post Time:Mar 02,2009Classify:Company NewsView:491

Reports have emerged that a new glassmaking facility, named TechnoGlass Industry, may soon be established in Ughelli, located in Delta State, Nigeria. A Chinese company, Rider Glass Industries, is said to be setting up the factory in partnership with TechnoGlass Industries of Nigerian capital Lagos.

The proposed project has brought attention to the dilapidated Bendel Glass Factory in Delta State, which was abandoned for more than 20 years and has since been earmarked for privatisation by the State Government, according to reports.

Barrister Joseph Ukpedor, General Manager of Bendel Glass Factory, claims that it will run side by side with the new factory, which is to be built nearby.

Mr Ukpedor also commended the State Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Utuama, as well as representatives of Ughelli North Local Government Constituency 11 and Ughelli South Local Government Area Constituency for their role in ensuring that the ailing factory was restored.

Speaking on behalf of Rider Glass Industries, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TechnoGlass Industries, John Aluya, confirmed that the new factory will produce 240 tons of glass per day once in operation.
