ECO EXPO's Green Building/Green Cities Expo will be held in conjunction with the China Ministry of Construction's (MOC) 14th Annual Trade Show and Conference June 18 - 20, 2009 at the Beijing International Exhibition Center.

The MOC Show, organized by the China Architectural Cultural Center, is the premiere industry event in China, featuring 30,000 square meters of exhibit space and attracting more than 40,000 attendees from key business sectors. ECO EXPO is one of the world's leading producers for environmental trade events, having produced 18 large-scale trade shows and conferences since 1991.

Previously a domestic event with limited international participation or focus on green building, the 2009 MOC show reflects the Chinese government's new emphasis on sustainable design and construction.

According to UN projections, nearly half of all construction will take place in China over the next decade including housing, infrastructure and transportation for 200,000,000 new urban residents. While the State Government has mandated sustainable design into all new construction, China has a serious shortage of advanced green building technologies, materials and services.

To help meet the country's challenges and new environmental regulations, ECO EXPO Chairman Marc Merson said the organizers are reaching out to the environmental business community around the world. "These statistics teamed with the fact that the government has begun to enforce wide-ranging environmental regulations creates an unprecedented opportunity for international companies with appropriate materials, technology and services to enter what is fast becoming the world's largest environmental market."

The opening session for the Sustainable Cities Conference program will be in the Great Hall of the People, the seat of the national government. Speakers from the Ministerial level will address an audience including mayors from 100 Chinese cities, key aides and local developers.

In addition to plenary sessions, the conference will feature panels focused on specific aspects of green building from energy to economics. Sessions will also be devoted to real estate development, city planning and case studies.

A focal point of the exhibition hall will be Architects HOK's Office of the Future featuring exhibitor's advanced building materials, technologies, furnishings and appliances. The stand-alone office will include a wide range of green building categories such as lighting, HVAC, recycled and non-toxic materials for flooring, ceilings and cladding, insulation, solar and other renewable energy options, furnishings, water conservation appliances and office equipment etc. Areas will include open and private working space, kitchen, bathroom, advanced communications and a video conferencing room.

The Green Building/Green Cities Expo is expected to attract more than 40,000 attendees. Special programs for exhibitors include a comprehensive matchmaking program organized by the MOC, an opportunity for technical presentations, and a special workshop on how to do business in China.
