Glass fabric prices stabilize after output reduced

Post Time:Mar 04,2009Classify:Industry NewsView:410

Taiwan Glass Industrial (TGI) reduced its output of glass yarn and glass fabrics, materials for PCB production, by about 50% from the fourth quarter of 2008, and as a result prevented prices of the two products from falling further in January 2009, according to industry sources in Taiwan. Prices have basically remained unchanged since the beginning of February 2009, the sources added.

Many PCB material suppliers saw sales growth in January as product prices began to stabilize and demand saw signs of recovering. Fulltech Fiber Glass reported sales of NT$138 million (US$3.94 million), up 62.85% sequentially. Glotech Industrial's consolidated sales totaled NT$53.68 million, representing an increase of 96.4%. Sales at Baotek Industrial Materials were NT$10.32 million, growing 68.88% from December 2008.

Glass fabric makers expect to see better performance in February with order visibility extending to the end of March.
