Edgetech UK Hosted Second ‘Energy in Focus’ Seminar

More than 282 fenestration industry professionals attended Feb. 26 event

Edgetech I.G. in the UK hosted a successful event on Feb. 26 that drew 282 representatives from systems companies, sealed unit manufacturers, fabricators, installers and media to the Coventry Ricoh Arena in Coventry, England. Titled “Energy Efficiency in Focus – Revisited,” the event featured expert speakers who discussed planned and existing energy efficiency regulations, technological advances in the industry and tips for selling energy efficient products.

“Edgetech sponsored a similar industry event in 2006 that was also a profound success,” said Andy Jones, Managing Director of Edgetech in Europe. “This year’s event proved to be another great forum for heated discussions, as well as a good networking opportunity and an informative resource for attendees. So much has changed since the last event. It was a great time to regroup and ensure we are all well equipped to tackle challenges and maximize future opportunities.”

The Energy Efficiency in Focus seminar featured high-profile speakers, including Sara Pearce from the Energy Saving Trust, Simon Beer from BM Trada, Giles Wilson from the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC), Andy McDowell from Pilkington Glass and Alan Fielder of Edgetech UK. The presentations were augmented by productive question and answer sessions, as well as mini-exhibitions on the future of energy efficient products. With many questions focusing on the issue and use of BFRC and Energy Saving Recommended logos, both organizations promised to look into making this area clearer through updated guidelines, to make the entire process as easy as possible for the industry to understand and use.

“We knew the issues we would be discussing would be of interest to the industry, but we were thrilled with the number of people that took time out of their busy schedules to attend,” Jones said. “As companies are fighting even harder to maintain or hopefully grow sales, taking a day out is a testament to the commitment some forward-thinking companies are making to the industry’s future. Listening to feedback from this year’s event and talking to the companies present, delegates of this event will almost certainly be able to use market changes to their commercial advantage.”
