Industry Rallies Around Gulf Glass

Post Time:Mar 17,2009Classify:Industry NewsView:399

Nearing the end of the opening day of Gulf Glass it was encouraging to see that despite the difficulties facing trade and industry (not least US$582 worth of construction projects put on hold in the UAE alone), the manufacturing and processing community continues to place faith in the Gulf Glass exhibition.

Given the cutbacks and caution that have resulted from the global economic crisis, this year’s show nevertheless features 92 exhibitors from 17 countries: Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Netherland, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, UAE, UK and USA.
Visitors on Day 1 came in good number from the Emirates, in particular Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the special economic zones. More visitors from Egypt, Iran and Turkey were noted than from the same time last year and the show has also been attracting encouraging interest from Saudi Arabia and the other GCC countries.

The visitors have been impressed with not only the international spread of exhibitors and the quality of the showcase, but with the expert personnel with whom they have been able to speak. They have also not only been able to review the very latest technologies from our previous exhibitors, whose support is always appreciated, but also the offerings from first time exhibitors of whom there are a number recorded this year.

Gulf Glass has also caught the eye of the local media and while journalists from the print media are covering the event, broadcasters are also relaying progress with at least two film crews and many local media on hand for coverage of the event.

Various Chamber of Commerce delegates, including the Chairman of the Sharjah CCI, were present from 11am to around midday. They were toured around Gulf Glass by event director Kevin Hudson and spoke in detail to a good number of the exhibitors. The Sharjah Chamber is preparing information for a report which will appear in their own magazine.

By 3pm on the first day visitors had already come from Libya, all Emirates in the UAE, Germany, Iran, Thailand, India, Canada, Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Finland, Egypt, UK, China, Ghana, Italy, Kuwait, Hungary, Palestine, Uganda, France, USA and Qatar.
