Glass stock improves in Q2 2009; glass industry woe remains

China glass sales-output ratio reduced in January-February 2009 while the stock improves.

According to the data from National Bureau of Statistics, in January-February 2009, the accumulated flat glass was 85,373,300 weight cases, down 6,540,000 weight cases or 7.11% on year. The output was respectively down 28.88% and 24.3% in North China and Northeast China, while it increased respectively by -1.49% and 8.86% in East China and South China.

The flat glass output in key glass companies reduced by 21.96% on year in January-February and the sales reduced by 8.66%, says China National Building Material Information. The sales rate of flat glass was 104.92% in February, up 14.23 percentages on month and 4.83 percentages on year; the accumulated sales rate was 104.09% in January-February; the flat glass stock was 22,202,200 weight cases at the end of February, down 10.30% on year.

Although the glass industry undergoes large scale shutdown, pressures on stock reduced.
