Quinn Glass is to appeal an enforcement notice served against it yesterday that directs the company to level its multimillion euro glass manufacturing factory near Chester in England.
The Cheshire West and Chester Council has told Quinn Glass that the enforcement notice is effective from May 29 and that it must cease operations at the site within nine months of that date.
The order also directs that the factory must be demolished within 18 months of that date.
The local authority was compelled to serve the enforcement notice against the company following a court ruling earlier this month. That ruling was a result of a complaint made to the High Court by competitor Ardagh Glass, which is controlled by Dublin financier Paul Coulson. Ardagh also operates a glass manufacturing facility in the area.
Quinn Glass has been operating its facility at the site near Chester without planning permission.
