CORNING, N.Y.--It's an opportunity to showcase all that Corning has to offer and help the local economy.
This summer, the city is hosting the annual Glass Art Society Conference. The event will bring about 1,500 glass enthusiasts to the area. Local officials expect it will have more than a million dollar economic impact from hotel rooms to restaurants and stores.
Each year, the conference meets in a glass-oriented city and this will be Corning's sixth time hosting the event. The conference includes a variety of activities open to the public to give attendees a chance to experience as much of the area as possible.
"It's an opportunity to give them such a spectacular experience that they're going to want to come back and tell their friends and I'm very confident that's exactly what will happen," said Coleen Fabrizi, Corning Gaffer District Executive Director.
The Glass Arts Conference kicks off June 10th.
