Post Time:May 07,2009Classify:Industry NewsView:361

Two leading fenestration firms announced today their plans to exhibit at the 2009 GlassBuild America® Expo in Atlanta. The commitments effectively reverse earlier decisions to withdraw from the show due to the economic crisis.

VEKA, a world leader in PVC extrusion technology and one of the largest and most respected window and door retailers, cited signs of economic improvement and a decision to re-focus on growth and customer support after taking a year off from the show.

“We will be launching a new look and a new message for 2009-2010 and are extremely excited about re-introducing VEKA to the industry,” said Steve Dillon, Corporate Director of Marketing for VEKA in North America, based in Fombell, PA. “We have a rich history worldwide of unparalleled service and products and it’s time to re-energize our business and do everything we can to support our customer base.”

Several of VEKA’s key segment peers have previously committed to the 2009 expo, including Mikron Industries and Royal Group Technologies.

"Intermac's GlassBuild America 2008 booth was well visited and helped close orders,” said Federico Broccoli, Biesse and Intermac America President/CEO. “Even considering the current economy, Intermac sees signs of resurgence in our industry. GlassBuild America 2009 affords us an excellent opportunity to connect with the customers who wish to remain competitive as the markets progress towards recovery.”

Intermac, a machinery and equipment maker whose U.S. operations are based in Charlotte, NC, will be joined at GlassBuild America by of a number of machinery and equipment firms – including Glaston, Bottero, CMS and Salem Distributing.

“The decisions by Intermac and VEKA are not only welcome developments, but they are further indications that we may indeed be seeing a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel,” said Denise Sheehan, NGA Vice President of Industry Events. “Several of our members have been reporting stronger-than-expected orders in the first quarter, and with the stimulus package offering incentives to purchasers of energy-efficient windows, doors and other products, many companies are well-positioned to take advantage of the increased demand. We’re heartened by the response of these – and the daily sign-ups of other firms – committing to exhibit at GlassBuild America this fall.”

GlassBuild America®: The Glass, Window & Door Expo, scheduled for September 30 through October 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, is the largest and most important annual gathering of glass industry professionals in North America.
