Post Time:May 21,2009Classify:Company NewsView:379

Supplier to focus on elevating the industry through education and high-performance products as part of its ongoing focus on energy efficiency and sustainability

Edgetech I.G. will bring back its popular booth theme Edgetech University (ETU) for a second semester at GlassBuild America 2009, Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Atlanta. Located at booth #2219, ETU will focus on educating customers about upcoming Green Certification Programs, ENERGY STAR® changes, IG certification and best practices for meeting the Stimulus Bill’s .30/.30 requirements. Edgetech will also sponsor the GlassBuild America Energy Efficiency Seminar on Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. This panel-style discussion will bring together industry experts to examine trends affecting the industry, including existing rules, changes and future growth opportunities.

Edgetech University’s classroom-style, in-booth “quads” will include Marg Webb, executive director for the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA), who will address the topic of IG Certification; Michael Thoman, director of thermal testing and simulation from Architectural Testing (ATI) and the National Fenestration Ratings Council (NFRC); and Rich Walker, president and CEO of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA).

Additionally, a few courses will be presented directly by Edgetech’s experts, including hands-on Super Spacer® application, best practices for manufacturing triple-glazed IG and – back by popular demand – MythBusters structural simulations. The company will also feature its high-performance products and value-added services offered through the Edgetech 360® Value Promise, as well as the SustainaView® Window Technology campaign.

“With so much happening in the industry right now, it’s all about being educated and seizing opportunities whenever possible,” said Erin Johnson, director of marketing for Edgetech I.G. “Over the past few years, we have focused heavily on educating the industry about energy efficiency and sustainability with numerous learning opportunities, including the well-attended ‘Energy in Focus’ seminar in the UK. ETU and the Energy Efficiency Seminar will further these efforts, featuring several third-party industry experts who will answer questions and help attendees stay on the leading edge.”

According to Johnson, the company’s focus on energy efficiency and sustainability have been tremendously successful globally as manufacturers and law makers are seeking ways to drastically reduce heat loss through residential and commercial window systems. “In the past 18 months alone we have sold and/or installed more than 40 automated Super Spacer lines worldwide to help customers meet and exceed new guidelines for energy efficiency.”

More about the Energy Efficiency Seminar
Furthering its dedication to education and elevating the industry, Edgetech is sponsoring the GlassBuild America Energy Efficiency Seminar on Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m.

“Given the current state of the technology and the substantial emphasis on energy efficiency policies by the Obama Administration, this panel discussion will be a must-attend event at GlassBuild America,” said David Walker, vice president of association services at the National Glass Association. “We’re very pleased to offer this timely seminar where show attendees can get a first-hand view of the constraints and opportunities posed by the energy efficiency movement, particularly those in the window and door, and commercial, market segments.”

Moderating the panel-style discussion is Rich Walker, president and CEO, AAMA, with panelists that include Marg Webb, executive director, IGMA; Richard Karney of the U.S. Department of Energy’s ENERGY STAR® program; Brandon Tinianov, chief technology officer, Serious Materials; and Mike Manteghi, NFRC board member and director of research and development from TRACO.

“The Energy Efficiency Seminar will undoubtedly be one of highlights of this year’s show,” Johnson said. “We anticipate a lively discussion that will help us all gain insight, take advantage of available opportunities and poise ourselves, as an industry, for future growth.”

Edgetech will exhibit alongside sister company, Lauren Manufacturing (booth #2123), a leading supplier of high-quality, pre-packaged retail weather stripping and custom-engineered polymer seals for residential and commercial window, door, storefront and curtain wall applications. Edgetech is an official distributor of these products for the industry. For more information, visit
